Watch Out For Deceptive Burglaries


A deception burglary is a burglary committed by person(s) that gain entry to the home by posing as an employee of a particular company. This includes, but is not limited to, utility companies, delivery companies and construction companies such as UPS, FEDEX, CON EDISON & the DEP.
To avoid being a victim of a deception burglary,Custom Metal Products is offering the following safety tips:
NEVER give out any financial information, especially…
Social Security Number
Credit card information
Bank account information

Stay inside your home

Don’t open the door!

If possible, verify his/her I.D. through the peephole OR WINDOW

To verify a Con Edison employee’s I.D. you can call 1-800-752-6633

To verify a DEP employee’s I.D. you can call (718) 595-7000
If you can’t verify the I.D. or if you feel unsafe or suspect criminal activity:

Call 911 immediately .
